ASOBIKAN- is a non-profit club and an AJJF dojo founded in 1970 as
Calistoga Jujitsu Institute by Prof Gene Edwards
with his Dan Zan Ryu Jujitsu students.

Head instructor (since 1990) Jess Green is a Sandan, a student of Prof Edwards since 1971. Jess may be reached BY E-MAIL (Below) or by phone at 206-5432 after 3:30 weekdays.

 

 

 
ASOBIKAN holds Beginners CLASS every week:
-- in Calistoga  at the Monhoff Center

                  under the Park & Recreation Office.

(Location- On Grant Street, access by northbound HWY 29 turn left, just off the main street by the airport)
Calistoga's classes are MONDAYS
4:30-6 pm for the children and 6-8 pm for the adults.

Wednesdays in Calistoga at SOLAGE Resort & Spa, on the Silverado Trail 4:30 - 5:45 Kids' Class and

Adults' Class until 7pm after kids class is out. We are through the center of the complex in the Yoga & Dance Studio behind the Gym.

As sensei of CJI, I strive to offer companionship to fellow travelers on the road which is BUDO (or Bushido) or the WAY of Martial Arts . Asobikan students may access updated sections toward promotion and information.

 

 

 

 

 

Initial fee for new students is $40 to cover the trial membership in AJJF for insurance and two weeks instruction.

Checks to AJJF if you are comitting to a full year membership. Cash deposits $20 can be applied to student memberships after tryout period. 

 

 

No uniform required for new students, just wear sturdy casual clothing.

 

{Ladies please wear a long shirt or leotard for modesty's sake so we may make you fully active in our class.}

(visitors AND trial basis students)

to assure our insurance coverage.

Outside insurance is NOT accepted,

sorry :-( 

 

 

The insurance is a separate fee than that of the monthly dues.

 

MINORS & CHILDREN -Please have the application signed by parents before attending first class.

 Monthly fees are $40 paid to Calistoga Jujitsu. The FAMILY RATE is applied to siblings who sign up or for parent/child. The monthly rate is $40 for first member, 50% off for each additional immediate family member. (ie Family of three pays for TWO, third is free.) Dues are pre-paid for the month and can be prorated for planned absence or "economic distress". [Sensei literally translates as "one who has lived (experienced) this before", money should not be an issue to a sincere student. I would do this for free if they had a place for us to practice at  that price!]
